This page is always under construction... thank you for your interest,

us with any questions that you think should be on this page.
Q. What is my Client Login?
A. To log into the Online Resources section of our website,
you have to pass a security check. The Client Login is a set of
numbers and letters that we sent to you when you set up your account.
If you lost this information, or do not know where to find it, send
us an email.
Q. Where do I get this login information?
A. Once a new account is set up with us, we send out an information
packet in the mail, the information required to login is located
in that packet. It will be in the web security section of the customer
information page.
Q. What features does this Login open up?
A. After logging in, our clients have several online resources
available to them. They can submit requests via forms and Express
VerifySM, view status and any reports
on file with Sneak PeekSM, send feedback
on the website and any of our other services, print or download
forms for performing background checks.
Q. What do the options for Sneak Peek mean?
A. Sneak Peek has two versions, HTML and Snapshot. These options
determine how the report will be presented to the user. SneakSM
Peek can output as a HTML file (a standard webpage format), or as
a Snapshot, which is a browser plugin, which looks nicer than the
HTML and is better for printing.
Q. If someone has been in a federal prison, does it show up on your
reports?
A. No, if the person is in a federal prison, penitentiary, or program,
this means they committed a federal offense, therefore, a federal
criminal record should be requested in addition to a felony/misdemeanor
criminal search.
Q. What does "possible record" mean when I see it listed
in the Criminal section of the IMI Report?
A. The term "possible record" means that according to
court officials, the subject appears to have a possible record on
file. In order to confirm whether or not the record belongs to the
subject, the file must be pulled to verify identifiers.
Q. Why don't the courts use the social security number as the main
identifier when doing a criminal record search?
A The reason the social security number is not used as the main
identifier is because the information obtained by IMI is the public
record for security purposes the social security number is not provided
to the public.
Q. What does "Pending Due to Court Delays"mean when
I see it listed in the Criminal section of the IMI report?
A. The term "Pending Due to Court Delays" means that
there has been a delay with the courts (ie. court computer systems
are down or court is closed) in returning criminal search results.
Although, we can check by with the courts daily. It is beyond IMI's
control , we are held at the mercy or the court until information
can be obtained.
Q. In Criminal Records what does "not prosecuted" mean?
A. The term "not prosecuted" means "we shall
no longer prosecute." In this case there is typically an admission
by the prosecution that there is a lack of evidence to pursue the
case. This term can also be used in a plea bargain situation. "Not
prosecuted" is not the same as a "dismissal" because
it is not the judge that drops the charge it is the prosecution.
Q. In Criminal Records
what does "disposition" mean?
A. The term "disposition" means the final settlement
of a criminal case in a criminal procedure. A disposition is also
commonly known as a judge's ruling in a case.
Q. In Criminal Records
what does "sentence" mean?
A. The term "sentence" is the judgment formally pronounced
by the court or judge upon the defendant after his or her plea in
a criminal court, which dictates the punishment to be assigned.
The term "sentence" is only used in criminal proceedings.
Examples of a sentence can be in the form of a fine, incarceration,
probation, counseling, community service and chemical testing. The
terms of a sentence can be carried out by a judge, jury or sentencing
council, based on the laws of a particular jurisdiction.
Q.
In Criminal Records what does "adjudication withheld"
mean?
A. The term "adjudication withheld" means that a final
judgment in the case has not been entered by the court. If the defendant
adheres to the sentence set forth by the court no further action
with be taken on the case, and therefore it is not considered a
conviction.
Q.
If I know that an applicant has been convicted of a crime, should
I tell IMI?
A. Yes, we would prefer this information be disclosed to us
in advance because not only are we working for you, we are working
with you on behalf of obtaining the most accurate and complete record
information available. In the criminal record retrieval process
many identifiers come in to play and providing the most information
up front can not only speed up the process of obtaining the record
it can also be very helpful in confirming the records accuracy.
Q. What should I do
if the Criminal record states "this may or may not belong to
your subject?"
A. In this case, you should contact the Criminal Research Department
of IMI and request court docket copies pertaining to the case(s)
in question. At this time IMI will attempt to obtain more identifiers
on the case through copies of the actual case file. This information
is not Initially provided by the courts for security reasons. Some
courts will require a fee to provide copies and in this case IMI
will pass on that fee directly with no additional charges.
Q. What is an "Authorized" contact?
A. Contacts for IMI's clients are submitted upon the creation of
their account. There is no limit to the number of requestors that
a company can have. However for legal and security issues we must
have the contact information and client authorization to run any
requests. So, if you are not sure if you are authorized, or think
that you should be on the list, but your reports are being denied,
send us an email
and we will investigate your situation.
